While this is interesting, I feel that it would be more interesting to compare Carlsen against Lee Changho, who held the top (by goratings WHR standards) position for the longest. Or Ke Jie, Shin Jinseo, the current best. Or perhaps Iyama Yuta, current holder of 3-4 Jp titles, who is likely the richest player, given how much the Japanese local tournaments pay.

Hmmm I think not mentioning how much Lee Sedol has made in the Chinese league is a huge oversight. Park Junghwan and Shin Jinseo make close to 20k USD per win in the Chinese League, and PJH has won over a hundred games in the Chinese League. I'm not quite sure how much Lee Sedol has made there but I remember there were years he would skip some national tournaments to focus in the Chinese league.
